Built this after a stretch of feeling oddly isolated despite being surrounded by people — the usual thing where everyone's busy, plans keep falling through, and it's easier to stay in than make the effort to meet someone new.
Pause matches you with one person a week — coffee, a skill swap, or a quiet cowork session — based on shared interests. No swiping, no group chats that go nowhere. You show up, we handle who and where.
It's live in London now, first paid cycle just went out. Feedback very welcome, especially on the matching logic — that's the part I'm least sure I've gotten right yet. Happy to answer anything about how it works or what's next.
Yeah Im pretty sure gambling the HN frontpage is just a small transaction away. How else would this, sorry for my english, half finished, vibe coded bull get so far
There was a similar service that I participated in for a couple of years back in ~2019 that was free. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it right now though to check and see if it's still free.
Edit: Went through my LinkedIn connections to see when I connected with some people that I remembered from the service, turns out it was 2021 that I participated. Was able to cross reference the connection dates with my calendar and found it was Lunch Club (https://lunchclub.com). It looks like it was still free, but it also looks like it no longer functional though.
I love the idea of getting out of the "office" (in my case work from home) to meet people for real eye contact, discussions without technology, etc. I went through my LinkedIn contacts a year ago and filtered to those in my city. From that list I contacted a couple of people each day in an effort to meet for coffee, lunch, or adult beverages. It was excellent to have good conversations without a phone or laptop in hand.

The reason I mentioned pricing now is because of OP message: ` first paid cycle just went out`
