How is it possible to make graphs that look this hideous?

I distinctly remember paying $40 per megabyte at Costco to upgrade my Cyrix 486-40 from 4MB to 8MB (maybe 1994 or so).

Just checking a random webshop, most offerings are <€10/GB. That's €0.01/MB, or about 3 cups of coffee on a terrace for 1,073,741,824 bytes of RAM.

So ehm... yeah prices went up a lot. But expensive? Back in the day, I bought RAM chips clocking in at some # of Kilobytes for such money.
